What a mix is for
Every part you recorded is competing for the same finite space. Mixing is the process of deciding, deliberately, what wins at each moment: which element carries the verse, what has to get out of the way for the chorus to feel like a chorus, where the record breathes and where it should stop breathing entirely.
That means balance, tone, dynamics and depth — but mostly it means judgement. Thirty years of it, in a room built and calibrated to tell the truth so those decisions come fast and hold up outside it.
Who hires a mix engineer
Writers and performers who'd rather spend the week writing. Producers who've been staring at the same session for a month and have lost all perspective on it. Bands with a solid live sound and a laptop full of takes that never quite gelled.
There's no house sound to submit to. Send references — records you want yours to stand next to — and tell me what the song is meant to do. That brief is what revisions are measured against.
What you send
Full-length stems or individual tracks from a single start point, WAV or AIFF at 24-bit, exported without mix-bus processing. Keep the effects that are part of the writing — the reverb the vocal was performed into, the delay the guitar riff depends on — and print those. Anything corrective can come off.
Send whatever rough mix you have, however bad you think it is. It tells me what you were hearing, and it's the fastest way to understand your intent.
What comes back, and what happens next
A stereo 24-bit WAV plus an MP3 reference, and free, uncapped revisions inside the delivery window — sent as one consolidated set of notes rather than a running conversation, which gets you a better mix faster.
A mix isn't a master. If you want the record finished in one pass, by one engineer, with a single point of contact and no handover, that's the mix and master package.

WAV or AIFF at 24-bit. Leave around −6 dBFS of headroom on the mix bus and take any limiter off the master bus. For stem jobs, export consistent full-length stems from a single start point.
Free revisions until you're happy — no cap, no paid tier. Revisions are in scope to the original brief, consolidated into one set of notes, within 30 days of delivery.
Mastering lands in 3–5 working days, a full mix in 7–10, and a mix + master in 10–14. The clock starts when I accept your files.
